"I salmon fished the Manistee Rivers for years, Brian convinced be to try charter fishing on the big lake. My first trip was amazing; we landed our first fish by 6:15 a.m. Brian was impressive to watch, adjusting the lines and lures to get to the fish, while he was monitoring the fish finders and steering the boat. I was equally impressed by the radio traffic contacting the "Daylate", our charter boat. Everyone was trying to find out where we were and where we were going next. I have been on two fishing trips with Captain Root, and signed up early for a third. Each trip I have been equally impressed with, and eager for the next. Brian is an experienced Captain with the knowledge and equipment to put you on the fish. I noticed that he was well excepted and admired in the charter fishing community, by the crazy amount of radio traffic trying to contact the "Daylate" to check our location and our next move. I signed up for a charter-fishing trip with Captain Root; so my dad, whom had never been salmon fishing before, and I could enjoy a day on the water together. Brian had us on fish before daybreak. We had one really nice salmon in the boat before we watched a beautiful sunrise that pictures couldn't explain. The rest of the morning was incredible! We had a riot taking turns with the rod in our hands, reeling in fish. By the time we were ready to head back to shore, we had a cooler full of fish including a brightly colored 17lb. Steelhead. It was a trip that I had with my dad, which I'll remember in my mind for years.
